Creamy SPAM® Chopped Pork and
Ham & Broccoli Pasta
Ingredients
- 1 x 340g Can SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham, cut into sticks
- 225g/8oz Penne pasta
- 225g/8oz Broccoli florets
- 50g/2oz Butter
- 3 Medium leeks, sliced
- 60ml/4tbsp Plain flour
- 600ml/1pt Milk
- 5ml/1tsp English mustard
- 2.5ml/1/2tsp Grated nutmeg (optional)
- 100g/4oz Cheddar cheese, grated
Method
- Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil. Add the pasta and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the broccoli florets, return to the boil and cook for a further 5 minutes or until both the pasta and broccoli are tender. Drain and set aside.
- Meanwhile, melt the butter in a medium pan, add the leeks and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until the leeks are soft. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually add the milk to the pan, stirring well between additions. Bring to the boil, stirring until the sauce boils and thickens. Cook for 1 minute, then stir in the mustard, nutmeg (if using), the cheese and SPAM®.
- Stir the drained pasta and broccoli into the sauce, toss well to mix and season to taste. Serve immediately.
