SPAM® Kotlety Schabowy

Breaded SPAM® Slices

Ingredients

  • 1 x SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham 340g can (cut into 8 slices)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 250g of flour (all-purpose)
  • 1 large egg (beaten with 1 teaspoon water)
  • 250g breadcrumbs (or panko crumbs)
  • 125ml vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Cover slices of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham in flour, followed by egg-water mixture, then breadcrumbs or panko crumbs. Allow slices to dry for 10 minutes before frying.
  2. Heat shortening or oil to a depth of 1 inch in a large frying pan. Fry one at a time by placing slices top side down into the pan.
  3. Fry 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden. Place on a heatproof plate in a warm oven (about 200 deg F) covered with foil and repeat with remaining slices. Alternatively, use two pans to speed up the process.
  4. Serve warm with apple sauce, boiled potatoes and a green vegetable like Brussels sprouts as preferred.
