SPAM® Saucy Meatball Sliders

Hey baby, let's lower the lights, spin a smooth jazz record, light some candles and get saucy with these SPAM® Saucy Meatball Sliders. They're made with SPAM®, bacon and a sauce guaranteed to melt your heart and taste buds. Growl!

Ingredients

  • Meatballs
  • 1 x 340g can SPAM® Classic, cut into slices
  • 6 slices uncooked bacon
  • 227g ground pork
  • 130g breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Sauce
  • 568ml ketchup
  • 300g brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground mustard

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180° C (350° F). Put the SPAM®, bacon and pork in a food processor and pulse briefly to chop fine. Do not puree.
  2. Place the mixture in a large bowl with the remaining meatball ingredients and mix well to combine. Using your hands, shape mixture into balls, 1 to 2 inches in diameter. Arrange in a casserole pan.
  3. Combine the sauce ingredients in a small pan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour over meatballs.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, baste meatballs and turn them in the pan. Continue baking another 15 minutes or until internal temperature is 75° C. Baste occasionally with sauce. Serve on rolls, adding pan sauces on top.
