California SPAM® Fried Rice

You know, just about anything tastes great fried. Eggs. Potatoes. Even bananas. Well, now you can add rice to the list, especially since it's combined with frying-pantastic SPAM® Classic.


  • 1 x 340g can SPAM® Classic, cut into slices
  • 1 tbspn butter
  • 2 tbsp canola oil
  • 920g chilled cooked rice
  • 2 minced cloves garlic
  • 300g green beans cut into 1/8-inch pieces
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 59ml soy sauce


  1. In small frying pan, melt butter. Add eggs; cook, chopping into small pieces with spatula, until scrambled.
  2. In wok or deep frying pan, heat oil over high heat. Add onion; cook 3 to 4 minutes or until translucent. Add garlic; stir-fry 30 seconds longer. Add SPAM® Classic; cook 3 minutes more.
  3. Add beans to wok; stir-fry 3 to 4 minutes or until tender. Add rice; cook, stirring, 3 to 4 minutes longer or until heated thoroughly. Add egg, soy sauce and salt; mix well. Serve immediately.
